2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our delivery services. This includes processing and fulfilling grocery orders, verifying rider identity through KYC processes, enabling real-time order tracking, calculating and displaying rider earnings, communicating order status updates via push notifications, and ensuring the safety and security of our platform for all users.

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. We use encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers. Sensitive data such as NIN numbers are masked in our interfaces and access is restricted to authorized personnel only. Selfie and vehicle photographs are stored in private Amazon S3 buckets accessible only through authenticated server-side requests.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Errandy:

Service Purpose Data Shared
Paystack Payment processing Email address, order amount (sent server-side only; card details are never transmitted to or stored by Errandy)
Amazon Web Services — AWS S3 (us-east-1, United States) Cloud hosting and file storage All app data (encrypted at rest and in transit)
Pusher (ap2 — Asia-Pacific cluster) Real-time delivery tracking — relays rider location to the customer's map during active deliveries Order tracking events, rider location coordinates (latitude and longitude)
Expo (push notification service) Mobile push notification delivery for the Customer and Rider apps Device push token
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Push notifications for web portals (store and admin dashboards only) Browser device token
Google Maps API Reverse-geocoding GPS coordinates into readable addresses; nearby store discovery Location coordinates (routed via Errandy's servers — not sent directly from your device to Google)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Location Data

For Riders, we collect real-time GPS location data while you are logged in and your status is set to "online" or "busy." This data is used to match you with nearby orders and to allow customers to track deliveries in real time. Location data is not collected when you are offline. We do not track or store location history beyond what is needed for active deliveries.

The Customer app may also access your device's GPS location in two specific scenarios: (1) when you tap "Use my current location" to auto-fill a delivery address — your coordinates are sent to our server to be reverse-geocoded into a readable street address — and (2) when browsing stores, to show outlets near you. Location is only requested when you trigger one of these actions; it is not collected in the background or while the app is closed. You may also enter your delivery address manually at any time without granting location access.

During an active delivery, the Customer app also receives the assigned rider's real-time location (latitude and longitude) via our real-time relay service (Pusher, ap2 cluster) so that the delivery can be displayed on a live map. This rider location data is not stored on your device beyond the duration of the active delivery session.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and business purposes. Order records and payment history are retained for up to 3 years for financial compliance. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 8).

7. Cookies and Tracking

Our web portals (admin and store dashboards) use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-app tracking technologies. Our mobile applications do not use cookies; authentication is handled through secure tokens stored locally on your device.
